What this opportunity is

This Cashbook Clerk role is a permanent finance position within RCL FOODS’ baking business unit. The role focuses on providing accounting support for the relevant customer principal or depot, keeping track of financial transactions and ensuring that cashbook-related information is recorded, summarised and reported accurately.

The successful candidate will work with daily receipts, credit notes, petty cash, cash counting, reconciliations, driver cash-ups and financial records. The role is based in Empangeni and reports to the Commercial Financial Manager.

What you’ll do / learn

  • Receive and process credit notes and discounts.
  • Ensure that credit notes, discounts and related documents have been authorised.
  • Count cash received from drivers under camera view.
  • Capture driver cash-up information on the relevant spreadsheet.
  • Follow up on shortages and gather reasons for driver shortages.
  • Report shortages within the required timeframe.
  • Contact drivers or driver supervisors to identify reasons for short payment.
  • Receipt cash-ups into the drivers’ JDE customer accounts.
  • Process authorised petty cash payments.
  • Issue petty cash for authorised casual wage expenditure.
  • Maintain the filing system.
  • Order and issue company pre-printed stationery.
  • Count cash accurately and reconcile daily banking.
  • Complete daily reconciliation of the cash vault machine.

  • 1 year of experience in a credit control and cash-handling environment.
