Minimum requirements

  • Grade 12 / Matric.
  • At least six months of cashier or till-operating experience.
  • Computer literacy, including Microsoft Office.
  • Sound numerical skills.
  • A strong command of English.

  • South African citizenship.

Main duties

  • Process cash, card, voucher, coupon and other accepted payments.
  • Record transactions accurately on Dis-Chem’s operating system.
  • Provide professional and helpful customer service.
  • Process authorised exchanges, refunds and returned merchandise.
  • Process loyalty and participating rewards cards.
  • Handle cash and daily takings securely and confidentially.
  • Ensure that outgoing products and prescriptions are scanned and paid for.
  • Obtain approval for line voids and price changes.
  • Answer customer questions about store merchandise.
  • Remain informed about current sales and promotions.
  • Report complaints, compliments and suspicious behaviour.
  • Follow Dis-Chem’s security and customer-service procedures.
