What the cashier role involves
The cashier supports customer service at the point of sale and records customer transactions on Dis-Chem’s operating system.

Main duties and responsibilities
- Provide professional customer service at the point of sale.

- Process refunds and customer exchanges when authorised.
- Ensure line voids and price changes are approved by a supervisor.
- Keep cash secure and follow drop-safe procedures.
- Ensure all outgoing products and items are scanned and paid for.
- Protect personal till codes and passwords.
- Report customer complaints and compliments.
- Answer customer questions about store merchandise.
- Remain aware of current sales and promotions.
- Identify and report suspicious behaviour.

Minimum requirements
- Grade 12 / Matric.
- At least six months of cashier or till-operating experience.
- Computer literacy, including basic Microsoft Office skills.
