Cashbuild is recruiting General Assistants for four stores in Gauteng and Mpumalanga. The available locations are Vosloorus, Schoemansdal, Bethal and Mall of Tembisa.

The positions involve customer service, merchandising, shelf-price labelling, housekeeping, workplace safety and helping to prevent stock losses.

Important: Grade 12 applicants do not need related work experience. Applicants with Grade 10 or NQF Level 3 require at least one year of work-related experience.

What the position involves

The General Assistant helps maintain customer service, merchandising, pricing, housekeeping and safety standards within an allocated area of the store.

This is a physically active retail position that may involve handling stock, keeping aisles clear, checking shelf labels and assisting customers with products and queries.

Main duties and responsibilities

• Advise and assist customers with products and queries.
• Help address and resolve customer complaints.
• Merchandise bulk stock safely according to the store layout.
• Maintain merchandising according to store plans and planograms.
• Merchandise stock promptly after it is received.
• Keep aisles and work areas free from obstacles.
• Ensure shelf-price labels are correct.
• Complete assigned housekeeping checklists.
• Follow Occupational Health and Safety requirements.
• Use the required safety equipment.
• Ensure that customers and colleagues can move safely around stock.
• Report damaged stock and other discrepancies to the Store Manager.
• Help manage and reduce stock losses.

Minimum requirements

Applicants must meet one of the following education and experience combinations:

• Grade 10 or NQF Level 3 with at least one year of work-related experience; or
• Grade 12 without related work experience.

Applicants must also:

• Have a valid South African identity document or valid work permit.
• Communicate in English and the dominant language spoken in the area.
• Perform basic calculations accurately.
• Be willing to work shifts, weekends and public holidays.
• Be able to work under pressure.
