What this opportunity is
This internship is designed for unemployed TVET engineering graduates who require in-service training / WIL to complete their qualification. You’ll support the engineering function by assisting the Maintenance Planner with admin-related tasks and learning core systems and procedures used in an engineering department.
What you’ll do / learn
You’ll build workplace experience in engineering administration and systems support under guidance and supervision, until you are signed off as competent in key areas.
- Accurate data capturing
- Open and close job cards
- Scan documents onto File Director and maintain filing within required deadlines
- Compile reports and take minutes
- Check that engineering downtime reported on production sheets is fully captured on the CMMS (On-Key)
- Review weekly planning performance as required
- Support compliance to work planning and control procedures
- Assist with planning and administration of statutory inspections
- Provide On-Key (CMMS) support to users
- Participate in daily production/engineering review meetings and follow up requests raised
- Maintain an accessible filing system for management and audit needs
- Keep attendance records
- Review preventive maintenance schedules and maintain records
- Help ensure required job card detail is understood and captured correctly
- Support daily/weekly/monthly performance reporting and data accuracy checks
- Perform other engineering admin duties and any additional tasks as required by management

Eligibility requirements
- TVET College N4–N6 Certificate in Engineering (NQF 5 equivalent)
- Engineering type: Electrical, Mechanical Fitting & Turning, or Mechanical Boiler-making
- Must be unemployed and require practical experience (WIL / in-service training) to complete qualification (NQF 6 Diploma)
- Must not have benefited from an internship or learnership programme before
- Must be joining an internship/graduate programme for the first time
- Computer literate (MS Office) – essential
- Willingness to work overtime, including weekends, when required
