Who may apply

This is an 18.2 learnership intended for unemployed applicants. Candidates must meet one of the three educational routes described below.

Option 1: Matric requirements

Applicants using Matric to qualify must have completed the following subjects:

• Mathematics with at least 40%.
• Physical Science with at least 40%.
• English with at least 40%.

Mathematical Literacy is not accepted. Applicants must have completed Mathematics.

Option 2: N2 or higher requirements

Applicants with N2 or a higher technical qualification must have the subjects required for their selected engineering discipline.

Boilermaker Plater

• Plating and Structural Steelwork or Welders Theory.
• Plating, Structural and Steelwork Drawings.

• Engineering Science.

Electrician

• Electrical Trade Theory, Electrotechnology or Electrotechnics.
• Industrial Electronics or Engineering Drawings.

Diesel Mechanic

• Diesel or Motor Trade Theory.
• Engineering Drawings.
• Mathematics.
• Engineering Science.

Auto Electrician

• Motor Electrical Trade Theory.
• Industrial Electronics.

Option 3: NCV Level 4 requirements

Applicants may also qualify with an NCV Level 4 qualification in an appropriate engineering trade.

All subjects in the NCV Level 4 qualification must have been passed with a minimum result of 40%.

Host-community preference

First preference will be given to suitable applicants from communities that host Valterra Platinum’s operations.

Applicants from host communities must submit proof of residence carrying a stamp from the relevant tribal office or municipality.
