What this role really means

A Storeperson is responsible for controlling the movement of supplies into, within and out of a storeroom. The role requires more than simply moving boxes. Every delivery must be checked, recorded and stored correctly, and every item issued must be supported by the correct documentation.

In a hospital support environment, errors may affect departments that depend on supplies to continue operating. The Storeperson must therefore work accurately, respond promptly to authorised requests and maintain reliable stock records.

The role may involve standing, walking, bending, lifting or moving supplies. Applicants should confirm the exact physical demands and any medical-fitness requirements during recruitment.

On your CV, place your Matric qualification and Storeperson experience near the top. Include the types of stock you managed, the inventory systems you used, your stock-count responsibilities and any hospital, healthcare, catering or food-service experience.

Application checklist
