What you’ll do / learn
The successful applicant will gain exposure to microbiological testing, hygiene monitoring, food safety systems and quality-related processes.
- Conduct daily microbiological testing for water, finished products, raw materials and environmental swabs.
- Interpret laboratory data to assess compliance with safety standards and regulatory requirements.
- Assist with investigations of contamination and raise non-conformances for out-of-specification results.
- Identify and monitor microbiological standards.
- Assist with developing and reviewing raw material and outgoing product test regimes.
- Test and release raw materials, work-in-progress and finished products based on successful test results.
- Conduct analysis of development samples, packed products and consumer complaint samples.
- Validate and verify the effectiveness of cleaning processes and procedures.
- Identify behaviours that may affect microbiological safety of raw materials, products, work-in-progress or equipment.
- Coordinate microbiology, hygiene, food safety and GMP awareness for site teams.
- Participate in HACCP reviews and food safety team activities.
- Conduct hygiene audits of factory areas, canteens, ablutions, people and third-party areas.
- Conduct swab analysis as required.
- Support GMP and food safety training for new and existing personnel.
- Conduct relevant micro tests on trade returns, raw materials, in-process products and packed products.
- Make stock return recommendations based on microbiological safety.
