What you’ll do / learn
You’ll handle day-to-day cashier duties at the point of sale, process customer payments, support customer service, and follow Dis-Chem’s operational and security procedures. The role also places strong emphasis on cash accuracy, till controls, and reporting issues to supervisors.
- Process customer purchases and accepted payment types (cash, cards, vouchers, coupons, etc.)
- Follow Dis-Chem customer service policies and 5-star communication principles
- Report customer complaints/compliments to the Frontline Supervisor or store management
- Stay aware of current sales and promotions
- Manage cash flow and follow drop-safe procedures
- Ensure line voids and price changes are approved by a supervisor
- Handle authorised returns/exchanges and ensure outgoing items are scanned and paid for
- Keep till funds secure and handle daily takings confidentially
- Report suspicious behaviour and follow store security procedures
- Assist with customer queries about store merchandise

Eligibility requirements
- Grade 12 / Matric
- Minimum 6 months’ cashier/till operations experience
- Computer literate (MS Office)
- Sound numerical skills

- South African citizen (special condition)
- Clear credit and criminal records (special condition)
