What cashiers do
- Serve customers and process purchases accurately at the till.
- Accept approved payment methods and process authorised returns or exchanges.
- Scan all outgoing items and follow cash-handling and security procedures.
- Help with customer questions and refer complaints to a supervisor or manager.
- Keep cash and customer information secure and report suspicious behaviour.
Minimum requirements
- Grade 12 / Matric.
- At least six months of cashier or till operations experience.
- Computer literacy in Microsoft Office, sound numerical skills and a strong command of English.
- Basic customer-service skills and the ability to work retail hours.
- South African citizenship and clear credit and criminal records.
- Reliable transport or residence close to the relevant store.
Dis-Chem also values accuracy, honesty, attention to detail and knowledge of cash registers, payments and refunds. An additional language is advantageous.
