What the role involves
Cashiers support customers at the point of sale and record transactions accurately under Dis-Chem’s procedures. Duties include processing cash, card, voucher and coupon payments; scanning items; handling loyalty cards; answering product queries; and referring complaints or suspicious activity to management.
The role also involves protecting cash and till access, keeping up with promotions, and processing returns, exchanges, price changes or voids only with the required authorisation.
Requirements
- Grade 12 / Matric and at least six months’ cashier or till-operations experience.
- MS Office literacy, sound numeracy, strong English and basic customer-service skills.
- Knowledge of cash registers, payments and refunds; accuracy, honesty and attention to detail.
- Willingness and ability to work retail hours.
- Reliable transport and/or residence close to the store.
- South African citizenship and clear credit and criminal records.
Speaking a third additional language is advantageous. The advert does not specify a particular qualification beyond Matric or an age limit.
