What the position involves

The Administrative Officer will report to the Branch Manager and take responsibility for general administrative duties and correspondence within and outside the Kirkwood branch.

The position includes financial administration, telephone support, record management and administration connected with Safety, Health, Environment and Quality requirements.

Main duties and responsibilities

  • Bank cashiers’ daily takings.
  • Complete other branch banking duties.
  • Administer and control petty cash.
  • Answer incoming telephone calls.
  • Take and distribute accurate messages.
  • Complete general branch administration.
  • Manage correspondence within and outside the branch.
  • Manage the administration of the branch’s SHEQ requirements.
  • Maintain accurate administrative records.
  • Act as a relief cashier when required.

Minimum requirements

  • Grade 12 / Matric certificate.
  • Fully bilingual in Afrikaans and English.
  • Strong interpersonal skills.
  • Good planning and organisational ability.
  • Strong administrative skills.
  • Ability to work accurately under pressure.
  • Willingness to work as a relief cashier when required.

Advantageous education and experience

  • Accounting as a Grade 12 subject.
  • Mathematics as a Grade 12 subject.
  • Previous administrative experience.
  • Banking or petty-cash administration experience.
  • Cashier or point-of-sale experience.
  • Experience with SHEQ administration.
