What you’ll do / learn
The successful intern will support product development, quality assessments and administration within the R&D environment.
Product development and innovation
- Assist the R&D Technician / Manager with the development of new products according to project briefs.
- Screen raw materials to ensure they are suitable for the required application and / or manufacturing plant.
- Test alternative ingredients for cost or quality improvements.
- Conduct product shelf-life tests and complete reports.
- Assist with competitor benchmarking.
- Help set up and prepare tasting sessions.
- Assist with internal and external customer presentations.
Quality assessments
- Conduct softness, texture, volume and water activity tests where required.
- Assist with basic interpretation of data collected from quality assessment instruments.
Administration and reporting
- Maintain the sample register and sample library.
- Record and archive laboratory trial data.
- Record recipe revisions during the product development process.
- Compile test bakery reports.
- Complete shelf-life test reports.
