What you’ll do / learn

  • Assist customers at the point of sale.
  • Record customer transactions on the Dis-Chem operating system.
  • Follow Dis-Chem’s customer service policies and procedures.
  • Build professional relationships with customers.
  • Report customer complaints and compliments to the Frontline Supervisor or store management.
  • Keep up to date with current sales and promotions.
  • Handle cash flow and ensure money is kept safe and secure.
  • Make sure line voids and price changes are approved and signed off by a supervisor.
  • Process purchases using cash, bank cards, vouchers, coupons and other accepted payment methods.
  • Process loyalty cards and partner reward programmes.
  • Exchange merchandise and accept returned goods when authorised.
  • Ensure outgoing stock, items and scripts are scanned and paid for.
  • Keep your cashier code and password safe and confidential.
  • Recognise and report suspicious behaviour to management.
  • Follow Dis-Chem’s security policies and procedures.

Eligibility requirements

Essential requirements

  • Grade 12 / Matric.
  • Minimum of 6 months’ cashier or till operations experience.
  • Computer literacy, including MS Office.
  • Sound numerical skills.
  • Strong command of the English language.
  • Basic customer service knowledge.
  • Willingness and ability to work retail hours.
