What this opportunity is

This is a 6-month work integrated learning programme designed to build future skills needs through training and development in a pulp and paper industry environment. On successful completion, participants are expected to be competent as entry-level operators within the organisation.

What you’ll do / learn

You’ll gain practical workplace exposure while completing operator-focused tasks and learning basic systems used in production environments.

  • Build basic skills in SAP/Microsoft to navigate training systems
  • Develop chemical safety knowledge
  • Perform entry-level production tasks (housekeeping, pre-start checks, assistance with plant start-ups and shut-downs)
  • Complete routine checks to help minimise failures
  • Support safe process operation in line with Mondi policies and procedures
  • Engage with the production team on equipment performance issues
  • Perform basic troubleshooting

Eligibility requirements

  • Diploma in Chemical Engineering and/or Pulp & Paper Technology
  • Achieved a 60% average pass rate
  • Must require P1 & P2 practical work experience to complete qualification
  • Completed P1 & P2 practical work experience in a heavy industry is an added advantage
  • Valid South African driver’s license
