What this opportunity is
This is a 12-month YES graduate placement in a manufacturing plant environment. The role focuses on supporting legal compliance, internal HSE processes, and the day-to-day application of HSE systems, procedures and reporting standards.
What you’ll do / learn
You’ll support plant-level HSE administration, reporting, training, audits and continuous improvement activities while building practical experience in workplace safety and environmental management.
- Assist in collecting data for incident reporting and investigation metrics and submit monthly reports to the HSE Manager
- Monitor transversal memo distribution in the plant, ensure sign-off is recorded, and confirm actions are closed
- Encourage and enforce reporting of all incidents using the near-miss/incident process
- Conduct daily audits and follow a set Gemba tour
- Assist with training sessions and provide training where needed within the plant
- Facilitate committee meetings and take minutes during HSE Committee sessions
- Monitor HSE & Security PDCA actions
- Assist with audits across plant areas, including ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 audits
- Monitor and manage general PPE usage across the plant
- Support filing and document control processes
- Handle IOD enquiries from the Department of Labour
- Issue permits where needed and manage contractor permits
- Help manage and improve the HSE Training centre
- Support HSE improvement ideas and report inconsistencies to the HSE & Security Manager
- Coordinate clinic activities and maintain relevant requirements

Eligibility requirements
- National Diploma in Industrial/Mechanical Engineering, or an equivalent qualification in HSE Management / Environmental Health / Environmental Management (or a related field)
- 0–1 years of experience in an HSE capacity
- Knowledge of HSE tools and methods (e.g., 5 Why methodology, work instructions, audits, ISO 14001, ISO 45001)
- Strong written and verbal communication skills and coordination ability
- Teamwork, professionalism, and good operational ethics
- Age between 18–35
- Must not have been registered on the YES Youth Programme before
- Able to speak, read and write English
