Discovery – Insurance Learnerships 2026

Discovery is inviting young applicants to apply for two insurance learnership opportunities in Gauteng and the Eastern Cape.

The programmes combine structured learning with practical workplace experience. Available opportunities include a Short-Term Insurance Learnership with Discovery Insure in Sandton and a Long-Term Insurance Learnership with Discovery Health in Gqeberha, formerly Port Elizabeth.

2. Long-Term Insurance Learnership – Eastern Cape

This learnership is offered through the Discovery Health ECP Service Team and is based at the Coega BPO Building in Gqeberha, Eastern Cape.

The programme combines structured learning with practical workplace experience in the financial-services industry. Successful completion leads to a nationally recognised FETC: Long Term Insurance qualification at NQF Level 4.

Learners may gain exposure to call-centre operations, new-business administration and health-products administration.

Long-Term Insurance requirements

• Grade 12 / Matric.
• Mathematics at a minimum of Level 4 or 50%.
• Mathematical Literacy at a minimum of Level 5 or 60%, where applicable.
• English at a minimum of Level 4 or 50%.
• A second language at a minimum of Level 4 or 50%.
• Be between 18 and 25 years old.
• Not be engaged in post-Matric studies.
• Not be in formal employment.
• Not have completed a previous learnership.
• Have effective written and verbal English communication skills.
• Have basic computer skills, particularly Microsoft Excel and Outlook.

An incomplete tertiary qualification may be advantageous for the Eastern Cape opportunity. However, the official advert does not make an incomplete tertiary qualification compulsory.

The Eastern Cape advert does not separately state a citizenship requirement or expressly use the word “unemployed.” It does, however, require applicants not to be in formal employment. Applicants should follow any additional eligibility questions presented during the official application.
