What this opportunity is
This is a permanent maintenance support role focused on assisting artisans and completing semi-skilled tasks to help keep equipment and facilities operating safely and efficiently. The position includes preparing equipment for repairs, assisting with inspections, and completing general civil/handyman work where required.
What you’ll do / learn
You’ll gain practical exposure to maintenance support work under guidance, including basic repairs, preparation and clean-up work, safe handling of equipment, and supporting installation/maintenance tasks.
- Provide support to artisans during maintenance and repair work
- Prepare equipment for repairs and clean equipment after repairs
- Move heavy equipment safely when required
- Perform civil and semi-skilled tasks (including basic office repairs)
- Assist with carpentry, bricklaying, painting and welding tasks
- Clean cooling towers
- Assist with disassembling, inspecting, cleaning, repairing, testing and installing electromechanical devices and electrical components
- Assist with installing/maintaining lighting fixtures, plug socket outlets and HVAC equipment
- Perform basic inspections and complete any additional duties required by management
Note: This is a job vacancy and not a learnership. Appointment depends on the employer’s recruitment process.
Eligibility requirements
- Grade 12 or equivalent (NQF 4)
- Business English: fluent
- Code 10 motor vehicle licence
- Basic computer literacy
- Willing to travel off-site / overnight when required
- Willing to work shifts, weekends and public holidays
- Willing to work in confined spaces
- Experience working with senior management (listed as a requirement on the vacancy)
