South African Breweries (SAB) is offering an In-Service Trainee opportunity for students who require experiential training as part of their curriculum. This role involves supporting the production process by maintaining equipment and the workplace, analysing samples, communicating results promptly, and contributing to quality improvement initiatives. The traineeship is a 12-month fixed term contract with Caledon Maltings, combining on‐the‐job and off‐the‐job learning to help students complete their National Diploma qualification.

  • Key Exposure:
    • Practical and theoretical learning in a production environment
    • Hands-on experience in equipment maintenance, sample analysis, and quality improvement
    • Development of skills necessary for the successful completion of a National Diploma

Key Responsibilities

  • Maintain equipment and ensure the workplace is kept in order
  • Analyse samples and communicate results in a timely manner
  • Support the production value chain by reporting non-conformances
  • Contribute to ongoing quality improvement initiatives
  • Work collaboratively within teams and support continuous skills development
  • Assist with tasks that ensure operational efficiency and compliance with safety standards

Eligibility & Requirements

  • Must be a final year student completing a National Diploma in Chemical Engineering, Food Technology, Biochemistry, or Microbiology
  • Ability to utilise computer programmes extensively
  • Demonstrated analytical ability and sound problem-solving skills
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills
  • High level of precision, accuracy, attention to detail, and numeracy
  • Must be willing to work as part of a team and under production pressures
