Coca-Cola – In Service Trainee Processing Internship

Coca-Cola Beverages South Africa (CCBSA) is offering an internship opportunity for an In-Service Trainee in Processing within its Manufacturing department. This role focuses on providing syrup room support by producing the final syrup used in soft drink production.

The successful candidate will perform checks and analyses to ensure compliance with Coca-Cola’s KORE principles and regulatory requirements, as well as assist with process validations and optimisation within the syrup room. The position reports directly to the Unit Manager: Processing.

Program Offerings

  • Programme Type: Internship
  • Duration: 12 months
  • Location: Gqeberha, Eastern Cape, South Africa
  • Exposure:
    • Hands-on experience with automated systems and process control
    • Involvement in process validations and quality analyses
    • Participation in process optimisation projects within the syrup room

Eligibility Criteria

  • Must have a Grade 12 certificate with Mathematics or Mathematics Literacy (minimum 40% pass)
  • Must be studying towards a National Diploma in Chemical Engineering
  • Must be a South African citizen and an Employment Equity candidate
  • Must not have previously completed the same qualification/learnership at another company or organisation
  • Must be unemployed at the time of appointment
  • Age requirement: 18 to 35 years
  • Must have passed two South African Languages at 40% each
  • Must provide a letter from the tertiary institution requesting workplace experience as part of the qualification requirements

Required Skills

  • Strong analytical and decision-making abilities
  • Ability to control stocks of raw materials and manage data effectively
  • Proficiency in planning and executing work tasks
  • Familiarity with process control and automation systems
  • Good understanding of planning and supply chain-related tasks

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Specialist Analysis:
    • Prepare syrups for production and perform process validations using SAP systems
    • Monitor systems and controls, troubleshoot basic automation issues, and conduct quality analyses
    • Record analysis results and communicate findings to relevant stakeholders
    • Apply lean manufacturing principles to identify process improvement opportunities
  • Quality Auditing:
    • Conduct quality audits, review procedures, and initiate corrective actions as needed
    • Regularly audit calibration procedures and document findings
  • Problem Solving & Training:
    • Support production teams with problem-solving efforts and participate in FFA sessions
    • Assist in training shift-based teams on quality analysis procedures
  • Continuous Improvement:
    • Carry out specialised analyses to support continuous improvement initiatives
    • Participate in team evaluations and assist with process optimisation projects
