Clicks Group is recruiting a Cashier Controller for Unicare Somerset West (24hr Pharmacy) on a permanent basis. The role is responsible for ensuring service excellence at the point of sale by directing and controlling POS operations, managing cash and stock controls, supervising and coaching cashiers/shop assistants, and resolving customer queries in line with company policies.

Key Responsibilities

  • Direct and control POS operational activities to ensure fast, efficient customer service.
  • Manage stock and cash safely, minimise shrinkage, and maintain housekeeping and administration standards.
  • Train, guide, motivate, and supervise shop assistants/cashiers to deliver consistent service excellence.
  • Ensure sufficient staffing in line with schedules, company policies, and labour legislation.
  • Resolve customer queries timeously and in line with company policy.
  • Enforce security measures, cash controls, and returns policies to minimise losses and improve POS security.
  • Act as a brand ambassador by being visible and delivering friendly, professional customer service.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of products, promotions, ranges, and events to support accurate customer guidance.

  • Strong leadership and supervisory capability in a customer-facing environment.
  • Results-driven with sound planning, organising, and problem-solving skills.
  • High integrity with a focus on risk control, compliance, and shrinkage prevention.
  • Strong customer orientation with good communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Numerate, detail-focused, and confident using computerised POS/retail systems.
  • Able to cope with pressure and handle setbacks in a fast-paced retail setting.

Eligibility Criteria

  • Essential: Grade 12.
  • Desirable: Maths 50% and English 50% (Grade 12 level).
  • Experience: 1 year experience in a customer-facing role overseeing the work of multiple employees within a retail/FMCG store operations environment.
  • Additional: Numeracy and stock management experience.
