Eligibility Criteria

  • Must hold a Grade 12 (Matric) certificate
  • Previous experience in a customer service, receptionist, or administrative role is an advantage (experience in optometry, medical, or retail environments is preferred)

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Patient Reception & Customer Service:
    • Greet and welcome patients with a friendly, professional demeanour
    • Assist patients with check-ins and respond to enquiries about services, products, and procedures
  • Appointment Scheduling & Management:
    • Manage patient appointments, including confirmations, reminders, and rescheduling as needed
  • Administrative Support:
    • Maintain and update patient records, ensuring confidentiality and accuracy
    • Assist with insurance verification, claim processing, and general clerical tasks
  • Optical Product Assistance:
    • Help patients select eyewear by providing guidance on frame styles and lens options
    • Ensure product displays are tidy and well-organised
  • Billing & Payments:
    • Process payments for services and products, including handling cash, card payments, and medical aid claims
    • Address patient payment inquiries and resolve billing issues
  • General Practice Support:
    • Maintain a clean and organised front office and waiting area
    • Support the practice with any other tasks necessary for smooth daily operations
