This internship opportunity is for a Raw Materials Merchandiser at TFG. The role involves sourcing new fabrications, purchasing and allocating both local and imported fabric, issuing and following up on purchase orders, and managing stock fabric utilisation in line with retail requirements.
The intern will also maintain up-to-date knowledge on fabric trends and establish key relationships with fabric agents and mills.

- Key Responsibilities:
- Source new fabrications and negotiate best prices and delivery dates
- Purchase and allocate fabric (local and import) according to retail schedules
- Issue and follow up on purchase orders and administrative procurement functions
- Manage stock utilisation and maintain up-to-date stock books
- Stay informed on the latest fabric developments and trends
Eligibility Criteria
- Must hold a relevant tertiary qualification, preferably in Design, Clothing Production, or Fabric Technology
- Preference will be given to candidates from designated groups in line with the Employment Equity Act
Required Skills
- In-depth knowledge of fabric and trim
- Familiarity with garment construction; knowledge of a PLM system is advantageous
- Ability to readily take on new challenges with urgency and eagerness
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build robust relationships
- Strategic thinking and effective problem-solving capabilities
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively
- Adaptability in complex or uncertain situations and proficiency in leveraging new technology to enhance productivity
