The Western Cape Government is offering a 2-year Graduate Internship Programme (2025–2027) within the Department of Agriculture, based in Cape Town CBD. The programme is aimed at unemployed South African graduates residing in the Western Cape who want to gain practical work experience, build workplace skills and improve their employability in the public sector.

Key Responsibilities
- Participate in the 2-year Graduate Internship Programme within the Department of Agriculture.
- Receive on-the-job training and practical work experience in relevant departmental functions.
- Support departmental operations and administrative processes as allocated.
- Develop an understanding of public sector work practices, systems and procedures.
- Build professional skills, gain exposure to career options and develop a network of contacts.
Attributes Required
- Good written and verbal communication skills in at least two official languages of the Western Cape.
- Proven computer literacy (MS Office).
- Ability to operate office equipment.
- Strong planning and organising skills.
- Willingness to learn, adapt and work within a structured government environment.
- Professionalism, reliability and a positive attitude towards public service.
Eligibility Criteria
- Unemployed South African citizen residing in the Western Cape.
- Between the ages of 18 and 35 years.
- Completed Grade 12 in the Western Cape.
- First-time participant in an internship or developmental programme in government.
- In possession of a completed qualification in one of the following (or related) fields:
- Certificate (NQF 5)
- Diploma (NQF 6)
- Degree (NQF 7)
- Postgraduate qualification (NQF 8 and higher)
- Suitable fields of study include (but are not limited to):
- Sport Science
- Communication / Journalism
- Community Development
- Finance
- Administration-related fields
- Recommendation (advantageous):
- You are financially constrained and have limited support or networks to help you make career choices.
- You studied at an institution in the Western Cape (preference will be given to these applicants).
