This internship will be held in various locations throughout South Africa depending on your preferred profession.

What is Transnet?

Transnet’s goal as the custodian of ports, trains, and pipelines is to provide an internationally competitive freight infrastructure that allows for sustainable expansion and diversification of the country’s economy.

Transnet is currently transitioning from its Market Demand Strategy, which is characterized by increased capital investment, to the Transnet 4.0 Strategy, which is focused on repositioning Transnet and the country’s freight system for competitiveness in the rapidly changing, technology-driven context of the fourth industrial revolution.

The key growth thrusts of the plan include regional expansion, product and service innovation, and diversification and expansion of Transnet’s manufacturing division.

The primary goals of Transnet’s initiative are to improve the connection, density, and capacity of the integrated port, rail, and pipeline network.

What is This Apprenticeship Program?

The goal of this apprenticeship program is to take qualified students and give them the opportunity to put their education into practice.

Transnet will give successful candidates the chance to carry out the roles and responsibilities that they studied for and actually experience what their chosen profession is like.

This is a nice introduction to the working world, where candidates will gain exposure to their chosen profession and also have a decent amount of work experience under their belt, and securing their futures.

Candidates will be tasked with the following:

Installations and repairs.
Finding faults in hydro electrical and mechanical equipment.

Requirements

Please make sure you meet ALL of the following minimum entrance requirements before submitting your application because if you don’t, your application will be rejected:

NTC2 with 4 relevant subjects to your trade (all passed).
Or Technical National Certificate Vocational level 4 or higher with 7 subjects passed.
Or a Technical Matric Certificate with pure maths and physical science, along with relevant trade theory all passed.

Please be aware that you need to be a South African citizen below the age of 35 years to apply for this program.
