Description
Rand Water is recruiting three (3) Process Controller Assistant positions on a permanent basis at the Zwartkopjes site in Johannesburg South, Gauteng. The role supports operations by maintaining housekeeping standards across plant areas, reporting unsafe conditions, assisting with basic operational tasks under supervision (including pump/valve operations), and supporting sampling and handling activities in a water treatment environment.

Key Responsibilities
- Maintain housekeeping and cleanliness across plant areas (engine rooms, control rooms, battery rooms, toilets, switchgear room floors).
- Clean allocated plant sections in line with operational standards.
- Report unsafe acts, unsafe conditions, and abnormalities to the shift supervisor.
- Assist Process Controllers with operational tasks, including:
- Putting pumps on load / taking pumps off load (under guidance).
- Opening/closing suction and delivery valves.
- Manual operation of pipeline isolating valves.
- Take water samples as required.
- Support unloading/handling tasks including:
- Unloading chlorine drums.
- Unloading ammonia.
- Participate in on-the-job training provided by the employer.
Attributes Required
- Safety-conscious with a disciplined approach to reporting hazards and following instructions.
- Performance-driven, reliable, and able to maintain consistent housekeeping standards.
- Team-oriented with a customer service mindset.
- Comfortable working in operational/industrial environments and following plant procedures.
Eligibility Criteria
- Grade 12 or equivalent (N3 Certificate).
- Advantageous:
- Water Treatment Learnership (Blue Drop requirements).
- 1 year cleaning experience.
- Exposure to water purification / water treatment environments.
- Desired:
- Communication and numeracy skills.
