Companies offering learnerships for foreigners will also have the stipulations posted on their website, the application or learnership advertisement. Here are some of the basic stipulations that most companies have in common.

Common requirements may include:
- You must have a Grade 12 certificate
- Must hold a valid ID document, passport, and/or visa
- Applicants must be computer literate
- All applicants must have great communication skills
- Applicants must be fluent in English
- You must not have a criminal record
- Must be keen to learn
- Depending on the field you apply for, you may need further qualifications
Applicants without prior work experience may also apply and those with a disability. If you do have a disability it is compulsory to also submit a medical certificate indicating your disability.
