What is This Apprenticeship Program?

You will join Hilti for a three-year apprenticeship in the Fitting and Turning trade, with the goal of receiving a trade qualification at the end of the program. You will get the opportunity to practice as a technician at the Hilti tool service center, working with certified technicians.

Your curriculum comprises a 10-month intense hands-on phase and a 2-month study period each year (non-consecutive) Master technian will coach and oversee you. This is a hands-on role in which you will ensure that all repairs are carried out in compliance with the high-quality standards requirements for repair, performance, and final inspection outlined in our worldwide repair instructions. You are accountable for repair costs, repair quality, and customer service. In addition to repair operations, you will assist the Regional Repair Specialists in continually improving repair standards and all necessary repair processes.

The apprentice is a member of Hilti South Africa’s TSC team and is responsible for constantly providing a high level of repair, with an emphasis on quality, speed, and cost of repair of Hilti tools.

You will be responsible for assuring the best-in-class maintenance of Hilti power tools in various segments, such as angle grinders, rotary hammers, combi hammers, vacuum cleaners, breakers, screwdrivers, diamond and measuring tools, and others, as a Tool Service Centre Artisan. This work will necessitate the application of analytical abilities to do root cause analysis and offer recommendations and solutions to enhance the quality, time, and cost of the repair process.

Requirements

Please make sure you meet ALL of the following minimum entrance requirements before submitting your application because if you don’t, your application will be rejected:

  • Completed matric
  • Experience in maintaining and repairing electric tools or machinery ( not compulsory / advantegous )
  • Customer oriented and passionate about continuous improvement
  • Good communication skills in English and preferably another language
  • Team-oriented with courage, commitment and flexibility
  • Orientation to conscientious mindset around health and safety working standards
