Key Responsibilities

  • Maintain full product ranges on shelves and ensure neat, accurate merchandising and presentation.
  • Monitor sell-by dates, rotate stock, and report expired/damaged items promptly.
  • Restock merchandise and manage stock moved from receiving/storeroom into correct locations.
  • Investigate out-of-stock customer queries and follow internal escalation processes.
  • Ensure pricing, labels, and displays are accurate; report discrepancies to management.
  • Keep storeroom organised and support back-shopping and general replenishment activities.
  • Support point-of-sale transactions (cash/cards/vouchers/coupons), returns/exchanges (authorised), loyalty processing, and safe cash handling procedures.
  • Support stock control activities including cycle counts/stock takes and reporting low/out/damaged stock.
  • Assist with loading/off-loading stock and disposal of packaging (flattening boxes to designated areas).
  • Deliver friendly customer service, report complaints/compliments, and assist with training team members.
  • Maintain housekeeping, comply with SOPs, health and safety rules, and uniform/appearance standards.

Attributes Required

  • Customer-service focused and able to communicate clearly and professionally.
  • Detail-oriented with strong accountability and ability to follow procedures consistently.
  • Able to work with minimal supervision, identify issues, and escalate appropriately.
  • Comfortable with basic arithmetic and retail administration tasks.
  • Able to work in a fast-paced retail environment while maintaining accuracy.

Eligibility Criteria

  • Essential: Grade 12 (Matric / Senior Certificate).
  • Essential: 0–6 months retail work experience.
  • Advantageous: 1 year retail experience; Retail Business Management certification.
  • Special Conditions: Able to work retail hours; South African citizen; clear criminal record and clear credit rating; driver’s license and own reliable transport.
